You need two separate Tax Identification Numbers in the state of Nevada. Your SUTA Number is used for two tax types:
  • Nevada Unemployment Insurance Tax
  • Nevada Bond Contribution Tax
You also need your Modified Business Tax Account Number (MBT) for the Nevada Modified Business Tax.
You can register online for both Tax Identification Numbers at the Department of Employment, Training & Rehabilitation (DETR) website. Click Create a new online user account to begin. Contact the agency directly at 1-775-687-4545 for registration assistance or to check if a tax identification number is already assigned for your business.

Normally, you'll receive your SUTA Number instantly after registering. This Tax ID is a 9-digit number formatted as XXXXXX.XX-X.

You'll receive your Modified Business Tax Account Number (MBT) with your New Nevada Employer Welcome Package.
You need to know two tax rates assigned for the current year:
  • State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) Rate
  • Nevada Bond Factor
Your contribution rates will be assigned when you register and will be updated on an annual basis from the Employment Security Division. Contact the agency directly at 1-775-687-4545 to verify your current rate.
Send any tax identification number or tax rate updates to your Account Executive or email [email protected].
